“We have all the time in the world” . . .

We have all the time in world . . . Our wedding March 12th 2011

Hellloooo everyone! You may have all noticed I have been rather quiet since mid December and for this I have a good reason. My lovely husband, pictured above during our first dance to Louis Armstrongs ‘We Have All The Time In The World’ has gone to work abroad for 2 years and maybe longer. We found out in December and everything was dropped so we could spend as much time together before he flew out on January 19th. The opportunity to build our own home and to actually live out our dreams of travelling the world far out weigh the fact he will miss both our first and second wedding anniversaries.

As you can imagine, working from home with 3 demanding cats and a hyperactive puppy is mad enough when you have someone there to support you, but living alone for the first time in 3 years – it’s a lot harder than I first thought! Even after 13 days of getting used to it! Yes I am counting the days, Tom will be home for 2 weeks in May and I can’t wait! But Skype has been a life saver and we speak every night at length.

The only way I have been able to deal with the situation I now find myself in, is to completely shut off from everything then slowly re introduce them one at a time. Cakemates is my first priority, which I am just getting to the end of a LONG list of emails that needed replying to. Finding the head space required to deal with 40 emails a day whilst trying to be creative on demand, as I listen to the dog attacking the cats and remembering to actually eat, is not easy. And that is without finding the time to write up blog posts!

I am missing Twitter, I’ve not had the time to read up on the latest wedding news and keeping in touch with industry friends. I feel totally out of touch with the world as I sit here from my desk, but once I am straight with a few things I will have plenty of time for new projects, so watch this space! Having a bit of a make over this week which is a great place to start!

I have lots of lovely things lined up for the blog over February, including FINALLY putting up our wedding photos and story! So stay tuned . . .

Before I finish rambling on, just a quick Thank You to all our friends and family who have been so wonderful and supportive. Also a huge Thank You to all my lovely customers for been so patient and understanding. This last few weeks has restored my faith in human nature.

A Traditional Christmas Wedding – Our Friends Chris & Rhian.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending the wedding of two of our friends, Chris and Rhian. Unfortunately, although I borrowed a photographer friends backup camera … I didn’t manage to get many decent shots. Firstly I am blaming the free wine, secondly the fact it was SO dark and thirdly, I’m just a crap photographer. I have also pilfered a few photos that our friends took, So if you are easily offended by rubbish photography, don’t read on!

Mr and Mrs Charles-Jones ♡ 10.12.2011

As we sat in the Church, we could hear the faint sound of sleigh bells coming through the door. The beautiful flower girls were shaking them whilst Rhian walked in on her father’s arm. She looked gorgeous as she floated down the aisle wearing a full length asymmetric ivory gown, decorated with crystals and sequins. Teamed with a simple veil and faux fur bolero and gold tiara. Rhian looked every inch the traditional bride.

It’s Friday, I’m In Love – Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

Completely unrelated to anything remotely useful and a bit of a daft one I know, but I only eat these balls of orangey goodness once a year and that is of course CHRISTMAS! No festive chocolate stash should be without a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. I had to restock today as we seem to have munched 2 this week already. Mmm the smell, the texture, the taste. I die.

“It’s not Terry’s, It’s Mine!”

It’s Friday, I’m In Love – Colour Me Fun

For this weeks Friday I’m In Love post I thought I would bring you all a little colour on this drab, grey and windy day … A website I stumbled upon a few months ago and someone I have followed on twitter since. Danielle Mansell is the creative lady behind Colour Me Fun and she makes fun and quirky crayons. Now I know your thinking I have lost the plot a little here, but seriously, these crayons are fantastic. As a lover of all things bright, colourful, kitsch and retro, the Lego crayons are just perfect. These would be a fab addition to any wedding, as favours either on the childrens play table, or even for the big kids to play with after a few glasses of Champers. . .

Lisa and Alex’s Surprise Wedding – The Photos!

Following on from last weeks post on Lisa and Alex aka 2people1life, i have just been given the go ahead by their fabulous photographer, Jonny Draper, to publish the photos. He captured them as they made their way from the altar to the pub, restaurant, pub, chippy, café, pub . . . . Ok you get the point. Lisa looked suitably stunning in Tabitha, one of bridal designer Charlotte Balbier’s most iconic gowns. The birdcage veil was one of many classic designs by Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe and the gorgeous flowers were arranged by Didsbury Flower Lounge.

If you missed the first post explaining their story, what happened on the day and the reason behind the surprise, then read here first. Otherwise please enjoy a gander through the beautiful shots of the Didsbury surprise wedding!

30 Weddings, 2 people, 1 World. The Amazing Adventures of Lisa and Alex.

I have been so excited about sharing this story with you, you have no idea!! In September this year I was lucky enough to get in contact with a pretty amazing couple, Lisa and Alex aka 2people1life. I sat down with a hot chocolate and read through their blog and what a read it was! For Lisa and Alex have just embarked on the journey of a lifetime and a journey I would very much love to do with Tom someday. Their plan is to spend 2 years travelling all over the world, exchanging vows in traditional and unusual wedding ceremonies with the aim to hitting a target of 30 . They sold up everything, quit their jobs and booked some tickets.

Romantic? Yes! Are they mad? Definitely! Inspirational? Haha what do you think? Since following their story I have done nothing but plot and plan our own version with fingers crossed it will one day happen. So join me as I follow their nuptial adventures East to West and North to South.

The Plan!
